Quick Guide to Equipment Settings Functionality

Introduction

The Equipment Settings functionality allows a user to define certain attributes (e.g. weight, volume, etc) for a specific type of Equipment. These attributes are then checked by the system when creating a Shipment and also when consolidating Shipments on a Movement.
For TL (i.e. Truck Load) types of Equipment, the user can define attributes that include Max Weight, Max Volume and Quantity. When a Movement/Shipment is created with this Equipment, if the Movement/Shipment's weight exceeds the Max Weight setting, an over-weight flag will be set and displayed on the Movement/Shipment Summary screen. When the user is on the Movement Details screen, and is using the Load Builder functionality and attempting to consolidate Shipments to a Movement, the system will indicate if the consolidated Shipments cause the Movement to be over-weight, over-volume or over quantity.
For LTL (i.e. Less Than Truck Load) and Parcel types of Equipment, Shipping Unit Dimensions can be specified on the Equipment Settings screen. When a Movement/Shipment is created with this Equipment, if the Movement/Shipment/Shipment Line length, width or height exceeds the Shipping Unit Dimension settings, an over-dimension flag will be set and displayed on the Movement/Shipment Summary screen.
